About Yonsei University

  • Richmond students will take beginning Korean language course at Yonsei. Students who speak Korean can take intermediate and advanced Korean language courses as well as courses with Yonsei local students.

Eligibility

  • Cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 is preferred.
  • Applicants are encouraged to have taken at least one course in Asian studies prior to departure.
  • Participation may be denied, or acceptance may be revoked, if a student's conduct prior to departure raises doubts regarding their suitability for the program abroad.

Academics

Go to http://www.yonsei.ac.kr/eng/academics/programs, click on the academic program of interest and then click on courses for the descriptions. 

Students with Korean language ability can choose from over 1,000 courses offered in Korean each semester at Yonsei.  Only business majors may take courses in the School of Business and College of Business & Economics and they are restricted to a maximum of three business or economics courses per semester.

Semester hours from Yonsei will be converted using the formula: Semester hours/3.5, round up to nearest tenth of a unit. A 3-semester credit course from Yonsei will be transferred back to Richmond as .9 units. A 4-semester course will be transferred back as 1.2 units.
