UR Summer Internships

In 2010, UR will sponsor summer internships in Australia, Berlin, Dublin, London, Mexico, and South Africa. Further information is on the SCS summer study abroad website as well as on the UR Summer Internship Page.

Students interested in other summer internship opportunities (non-Richmond sponsored) are encouraged to browse the international internship resources available in the International Resource Center (IRC) in Puryear 114 and/or to consult the Internships section of the Study Abroad web site.

Non-UR Summer Study Abroad

In addition to the numerous summer study abroad programs run directly by faculty at the University of Richmond, many UR partner institutions or affiliates have summer opportunities where UR students may earn credit abroad. There are also many other non-Richmond partner institutions that offer summer programs, and these programs are acceptable provided they are accredited programs. We call all of these "non-UR" for the summer, whether they are a Richmond partner institution for the semester/year or not, in order to avoid confusing them with the Richmond faculty-led summer programs.  A sampling of known partner/affiliate programs by geographic region is listed below. To find other non-UR options, students might search http://www.iiepassport.org or check the International Resource Center in Puryear 114 for information.

In order to participate in a non-UR summer program, you do not need to apply through the University of Richmond, nor do you need to pay any fees to the University of Richmond. Students should apply directly to the program or abroad university. However, students planning to transfer credit from non-UR summer study abroad programs toward their Richmond degree (e.g., UVA-Valencia in the summer) must have the courses approved prior to study abroad. Two forms are due to the Office of International Education in Puryear Hall by April 30 preceding the summer abroad: a one-page datasheet and a Study Abroad Course Approval Form. Both forms are available in 101A Puryear Hall. Advising through the OIE is available, if students have questions during the decision-making and application process. Students with questions should contact studyabroad@richmond.edu
