The study abroad peer advisors are UR students who have been trained to assist you in exploring your options for studying abroad. They can help you with questions such as: How do I choose a program? How will my credit transfer? How much will it cost? How do I apply? How can I talk to other students who have studied abroad? And much more!
The 2009-2010 Peer Advisors are Sarah Gilbertand Karen DeBonis. You can make an appointment with a peer advisor by putting your name on the appointment schedule in the International Resource Center (Puryear Hall, Room 114) or by emailing the Peer Advisor you would like to meet with. Walk-ins are also welcome during the Peer Advisor hours listed below. During their walk-in hours, Peer Advisors are available in Puryear 114.
Sarah is a senior from Boston, Massachussetts, majoring in Political Science and Psychology. She studied abroad in Ankara, Turkey for one semester in her junior year and is hoping to travel to Africa after graduating to teach English. Karen studied abroad in Seville, Spain the summer after her freshman year and then traveled to Peru the following summer, where she found out she was in love with South America. She returned to spend the spring semester of her junior year at Chile's PontÃfica Universidad Católica, passing through Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and Easter Island as well. A Latin American & Iberian Studies major and Psychology minor, Karen enjoys cooking with friends, photography, arts & crafts, inventions, climbing trees and exploring, from the wonderful city of Richmond to the very wide world beyond.
